Work with Madison Youth Choirs this summer!
Position Overview
Bring your energy, enthusiasm, and curiosity for music education, arts administration, and working with elementary-aged students to MYC this summer! You will be part of our summer staff primarily supporting our introductory choir program as a classroom assistant, greeter, supply/snack coordinator, and office/music organizer. This is a great opportunity for a future music educator to work alongside our introductory choir educators, or for anyone interested in youth arts programming/arts administration. Additional opportunities to work on special projects (data entry, social media, music library, etc.) with MYC staff will be available.
Position starts the week of June 12 or 13 for training.
Limited or no hours the week of July 1-5.
Possible evening hours available July 22-24
Hourly rate: $11
Typical Daily Schedule/Duties (intro choir weeks)
- 8:00am – set up classroom; prep supplies/snack
- 8:45am – greet singers and shepherd to classroom
- 9:00am – in-class support for introductory choirs; work with instructor to help promote a joyful, respectful, engaged learning environment for all students
- Noon – assist with end of class duties including supervising pick up of singers; putting away chairs, supplies, etc.
- BREAK
- 1:00 – 2:00PM MYC office support; special projects, etc.
Skills/Experience Desired
- Joyful, positive, patient demeanor with young students and their families
- Experience working with young students in a classroom or camp setting
- Willingness to jump in wherever needed
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with children and adults
- Desire to advance MYC’s mission and support our programming
- Social Media skills a plus (ideating, creating, posting)
