FAQ
Can I request a specific airline seat? Unfortunately, no. Group seats are pre-assigned by the airline, sometimes in alphabetical order, sometimes in a random order.
Is there a packing list? We will be providing a comprehensive packing list next spring. A preview was provided in the DEC 18 email.
We want to travel to Scotland with you but not chaperone, is that possible?
No. But you can travel to Scotland on your own and see us at the public performances. You can also plan additional vacation time with your singer(s) at the end of the tour. See next question.
Can we arrange to pick up our singer before the end of the tour?
No. Families desiring to travel together after the tour will need to plan their itinerary to include picking up their singer in Edinburgh late Thursday evening, June 26, around 10PM. We are not able to accommodate earlier pick ups.
How do we arrange a different flight home for our singer if we’re planning a vacation after the tour? This is done via the Deviation Request Form (see link under Tour Forms above) and managed directly with our air handler. Deviation requests are limited by our air contract and will be handled on a first come, first served basis.
Where do we depart from on June 20? The entire tour group departs together from Madison in the mid-morning of June 20. We travel together by coach from Madison to O’Hare and fly out of O’Hare in the afternoon. Our meeting location in Madison is TBD, but will likely be Christ Presbyterian Church, a few blocks from MYArts on the Isthmus. This is also where singers will be picked up on our return travel day, June 27, in the early evening. We will be providing Madison arrival updates once we land in Chicago.
What if something happens right before the trip and I cannot travel?
We recommend “cancel for any reason” travel insurance to everyone – not included in the trip cost, but important to consider purchasing.
Tell me about the food…
This tour will be a great opportunity to try new foods and show off your flexibility muscles. When we are on campus in Aberdeen or other cities, we’ll likely eat at the college cafeteria, which always has a choice of entree/side, along with a regular salad bar. When we are “out”, we’ll have boxed lunches, which also include choices. If you are a self-identified “picky eater” we strongly recommend practicing trying new foods and including foods you wouldn’t normally choose into your meal plans to get accustomed to eating things that wouldn’t be your first choice on a regular basis.
Is there any kind of travel insurance included in the estimated cost?
No, see above for more information on travel insurance.
Is there any free time for singers/chaperones?
Not really. We move as a group from place to place. There will be opportunity for choice, opportunity to be with small groups, and some “down time”, but not a ton.
How can I see the performances if I’m coming separately?
We’ll communicate that information as plans develop, but we won’t have this information until next May at the earliest. Many venues will be tickets-at-the door.
My singer has special dietary needs (ie, allergies, vegetarian/vegan, celiac diet)
We will work closely with our tour company to meet those needs. We’ll be asking for that information as we move closer to the trip to work on arrangements, but if you have a specific question, please contact us.
Can we see an itinerary?
Not yet. We’ll share the daily schedule very close to our departure. If you are planning to meet us in Scotland, our performance venues will be known and shared next spring.
Calendar
You’ll find all summer rehearsals here and we’ll add more details about our actual trip as we learn them (our performance schedule, for example). If you can’t see the calendar, please try re-loading this page.
